For this eighth edition there prepared a great (montage for herself at the expense of the teacher coheter Joan García who possessed the collaboration of the Colla d’Engraellat and the load of more than 500 pieces of “morterets” and “cantarelles” on the part of the company Vicente Caballer.

His montage, which it began almost twelve hours before the shot, constituted already in yes the same spectacle. To see it on the scheme and his materialization on the street, he(she) resembled more a musical score than any other thing. The “cañoncetes” (morterets i cantarelles) were wound up to the soil.

The shot was done manually and the used gunpowder was special, practically pure, of there the high cost of the shot, besides which it meant the construction of these pieces of iron, recovering the models who come of the XIXth century and previous.

The Secció Especial is a group of the largest and most prestigious falles commissions in the city of Valencia. In 2009, the group consisted of 14 commissions. This class of falles was first started in 1942 and originally included the falles of Barques, Reina-Pau and Plaça del Mercat. Currently, none of these are still in the group. The commission that has most often participated in this group as of 2009 was Na Jordana, with 56 times. Winning the first prize in the Sección Especial is the most prestiguous prize any falla can win. All other falles fall into different classes that also award prizes with the exception of the one erected by the town hall..

Blusones

Blusón

If you want to be really Valencian, get yourself a blusón and scarf. The Blusón is an overshirt, said to originate from England in the 19th century, usually black , it is worn with a blue and white checked neck scarf.

This garment, that the “falleros” use and “falleras” (though these of illegitimate form since the ” Junta Central Fallera “ considers it to be a masculine garment and it prohibits his use for the women in the official acts as it signs in the paragraph 2 of the article 64 of the Chapter II ” Of the Apparel “.) nowadays, it has a British origin. It arose in the 19th century in order to prevent the workers of the factories from getting dirty the clothes. Of the English industries it jumped to the continent and was adopted by the Spanish peasants in general and by the garden Valencian one especially. The daily use of the blusón into Valencia turned soon this garment in typical of the “fallas”

The blusón was in the habit of being accompanied on a few “espardenyes”(shoes) and a trousers of “rafia” (Dress Fabric) or similar.. Almost always it was coming accompanied from a low shirt of cotton and a strip of fabric coiled in the waist. It was a clothes of task for the field

The busiest day of all the Fallas week.

San José or Saint Joseph is Father’s Day in Spain.

It is also the day of the Cremà.

San José starts with an ofrenda of flowers on the Puente San Jose attended Falleras Mayores and features a mascletà.

This is followed by a¨misa¨or service with all the main Falleras and the Carpenter’s Guild in the Cathedral in honour of San jose

This is a lovely day to wander around the city and take in the atmosphere of this last day, all over the city every ´casal´ has its closing party, many of them celebrating by making paellas in the street, and many having their own mini-Mascletàs which follow the Main (and last) Mascletà in the Ayuntamiento. A very noisy and emotional day.
