On the Northern outskirts of Valencia lies the City of Fallero Artists – a deeply Valencian district where many of the Fallas are produced in the workshops by the best in the trade. The Guild of Fallero Artists have their own museum there, in contrast to the official Museo Fallero. It is actually a more interesting museum and it’s a shame it is so far. Many, many more ninots from the Fallas, and more radical ones (since they don’t have to appease anyone to win the first prize).

The jury unanimously chose the projects “Falles? o Treballes?“ y “Entra i voràs“

On April 3 the deadline for submission of sketches for the conduct of municipal fallas 2010, three projects put forward for a big falla and two for children. The competition this year includes a budget of 230,000 euros for the large monument and 29,000 euros for children.

On Wednesday, April 8 to 13 “15 hours in the Press Room of the City, the jury composed of the elected people’s Lourdes Bernal, Francisco Lledó, Félix Crespo and Pilar Calabuig socialist as well as the general secretary of JCF, Vincente Fayos, announced the winners sketches.

At the exhibition you can admire the ninots, cardboard figures that accompany the monuments of the falleros, which have been selected from each of the Junta Central Fallera commissions, and which will be returned to their respective fallas for the celebration. These are true works of art, carefully done by fallero artists “Artista fallero” who worked on them during the year.

The public plays an important part in the exhibit, for their votes will decide which of the cardboard figures is to be indultado, or saved from the fire, and taken to the Museo Fallero, where it will be kept along with all the ninots indultats that since 1934 have been spared.
